We are trained in the STOTT PILATES ® Rehabilitation Program, a systematic movement based approach to neuromuscular re-education, which trains rehab professionals to observe and understand optimal and non-optimal movement strategies and how these strategies correlate with pain and pathology. We use this exercise-based approach to assess your movement strategies and design an exercise program tailored to your body’s needs. Pilates is intelligent exercise – it incorporates precise movements and core principles of motion, including breath, control, fluidity, and accuracy, to gently restore alignment and muscle balance for improving your posture, flexibility, and balance. During a Pilates-based rehabilitation session at Element you will receive specific attention to form and technique from a trained physical therapist, providing specific modifications to exercises so you can practice them in a safe and effective manner – both at home and on the Pilates Reformer, Mat, Cadillac, Arc Barrel, and Chair equipment in the Element gym or your local Pilates studio.
Pilates-based rehab addresses the whole body and focuses on individual asymmetries in flexibility, strength, and muscle recruitment patterns, with an emphasis on exercises that help to develop the smaller muscles in our bodies which provide support for our joints. It is a great way to learn about your body, integrate movement patterns, and reduce the likelihood of future injury. At Element, you will receive hands-on training and individualized instruction with the intention to help you gain strength in weak or injured muscles, foster body awareness, and create proper movement through well-balanced joints. With practice, both under our skilled supervision and through consistent completion of an individualized home program, you will notice new movement patterns becoming authentic and automatic.
