Women's Health Physical Therapy

Women-Centered Therapy

In adult women, there are two major periods of bodily change: pregnancy and menopause. These changes, though natural, drastically effect the way the body looks, feels, and functions. Dr. Christina Trautman, our Women’s Health Clinical Specialist, guides women through these transitions in life, listening carefully and working with each individual to create a treatment plan to care for their specific symptoms.

Pregnancy, to the female body, is a period of constant change. During pregnancy, drastic hormonal shifts, as well the presence of a growing fetus, can lead to imbalance, pain, and pelvic floor dysfunction.

Post-partum, women may experience pain related to new postures or tasks related to caring for her infant. This, in addition to the challenge of recovering her pre-baby body. Through Physical Therapy and Chiropractic care, our providers help to bring relief so that a woman can focus on enjoying this precious time in life instead of focusing on pain.

During menopause, there are, as with pregnancy, physical and emotional shifts. Women are generally more in tune with their bodies at this stage in life and take more time for self-care. Sexuality is often affected by these hormonal shifts, leading to decreased libido and often times pain with intimacy.
