Pilates-Based Rehabilitation

Well-Balanced Rehabilitation

Pilates rehabilitation is a common treatment technique used by our physical therapists to help patients improve their posture, flexibility, and balance. Pilates-based rehab provides a gentle and individualized approach to skilled care; it addresses the whole body and focuses on individual asymmetries in flexibility, strength, and muscle recruitment patterns. Pilates-based exercises also help to develop the smaller muscles in our bodies that provide support for our joints. It is a great way to learn about your body, correct faulty movement patterns, and reduce the likelihood of future injury.

During a Pilates-based rehabilitation session at Element you will receive specific attention to detail and form from a trained physical therapist. You will receive hands on training and individual instruction in exercise techniques that will help you gain strength in weak or injured muscles, foster body awareness, and create a well-balanced body.

Individual training sessions can be tailored to your needs from creating a home or gym exercise program or receiving instruction in Pilates techniques including mat and reformer work performed in the Element gym. The benefits of receiving Pilates-based rehabilitation from a licensed physical therapist is that you will have a trained health professional analyzing your movement patterns and providing specific modifications to the exercises in order to practice them in a safe and effective manner.

All patients can benefit from instruction in a Pilates-based exercise program regardless of age and athletic ability. Pilates rehabilitation is an excellent preventative step in helping to keep yourself strong and avoiding future injuries.
